Discover the Playfulness of Slackline Yoga

A few years ago, we had the pleasure of teaching renowned yoga teacher Seane Corn how to slackline. She has seen us teaching slacklining for over 10 years at different festivals, and we always spoke about her taking some lessons. But she is so busy! Until one beautiful summer day, she finally took some time off her busy teaching schedule to practice slacklining with us.

Stepping onto a slackline for the first time can be both exhilarating and daunting, much like attending your first yoga class. For many of us, that initial yoga experience was transformative, opening a gateway to mindfulness, balance, and a deeper connection with ourselves. Slackline yoga takes these principles to a whole new level, blending the serenity of yoga with the dynamic playfulness of slacklining.

While most people think of walking on a slackline, we actually don’t start with this skill. We begin with kneeling and sitting positions. This approach reaffirms that our classes are much more than just walking a line. Similar to a yoga practice, where you don’t spend all your time standing, Slackline Yoga includes a variety of forms. Standing is just one of them.

Imagine the first time you rolled out your yoga mat, filled with curiosity and a touch of nervousness. As you moved through the poses, you may have discovered an immediate need to stay focused and consider the actions of your entire body. With time, as you continued your yoga journey, you experienced a state of moving meditation, a space where your mind began to still and your body started to flow. This same feeling is amplified when you step onto a slackline. The fluctuations of the line beneath your feet mirror the fluctuations of the mind. As you learn to breathe and gain balance, you realize the slackline is the perfect tool to observe Patanjali’s second yoga sutra “Yogas citta vrtti nirodhah” – yoga is the cessation of the modifications, or fluctuations, of the mind.

Slackline Yoga allows you to feel and observe when you enter that state of meditation. But instead of taking hours and hours of serious practice. It usually takes a few minutes of opened playtime. 

In slackline yoga, every wobble and sway of the line reveals your mental state, offering a tangible reflection of your inner world. It demands presence, focus, and a playful spirit, encouraging you to embrace the practice with a sense of fun and exploration. The slackline becomes a moving meditation, a tool for honing concentration and finding balance both physically and mentally.

During our lessons you can expect detailed instructions, followed by ample time for practice and exploration. If the pose requires spotting, we will teach you the process. That way you will leave the class not only knowing how to practice safely, but how to share the practice with your friends and family.

What do I need to bring with?
  • Comfortable Clothing

    Wear clothing that allows you to move freely. Since classes will be outdoors dress in layers that can be used to protect you from the sun and wind.

    Slackline Yoga is practiced barefoot. If you prefer to cover your feet, we recommend using ToeSox grip socks. They will help keep your feet clean while ensuring you don't slide on the line.

You do not need any experience to practice with us. Whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, our classes will provide you with the skills you need. Likewise, you do not need to know how to slackline before attempting slackline yoga. Everyone is welcome!

Our classes are open to students ages 7 and up. Children under 16 should come with an adult who is also participating in the class.

The length of our classes depends on each event. They typically range from 1 to 2 hours.

Feeling concerned about slacklining is completely natural. During class, we demonstrate each slackline pose to the entire group, providing clear instructions on how to enter, balance, and exit the pose. If the pose requires spotting, we clearly explain the process.

After the demonstration, we provide ample time for everyone to practice. If you don’t want to try a pose after watching the demo, you can skip it. There’s no pressure to practice anything you’re not comfortable with. You can also ask us and our assistants for additional guidance.
