Road to Wanderlust Film follows Sam Salwei and Raquel Hernández-Cruz as they embark on an epic 45,000-mile journey across North America in their tiny 1988 Ford Festiva, affectionately named The Peace Love Car. This documentary captures their adventures in movement, teaching, and full-time travel. Proving that life on the road is about more than just the miles.
Funded by a passionate community on Kickstarter and showcased at top film festivals, this story is an ode to exploration, connection, and chasing the unknown.
More than just transportation, The Peace Love Car is a character in its own right. Outfitted with a solar panel for power, folding seats that convert to a bed, and even an oven under the hood, this tiny car carried Sam and Raquel across the continent multiple times, proving that adventure doesn’t require a big rig—just a big heart.
Sam and Raquel’s tour took them through all 49 U.S. states and most of Canada, weaving together a tapestry of incredible landscapes, communities, and experiences. They even flew to Hawaii, ensuring they truly reached all 50 states on their eight-month adventure.
Along the way, they taught a workshop in every state, connecting with diverse communities and sharing their love for yoga, acroyoga, slackline yoga, and handstands.
But their journey wasn’t just about teaching—it was also about pushing their own limits. In each location, they took on an athletic challenge, from SUPing in glacial lakes in Alaska to paddling through an urban river in Pueblo, CO. They rock climbed both indoors and outdoors across North America, mountain biked both across rugged terrain and urban settings. They even ran the grueling Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim in the Grand Canyon and to the highest point in New Orleans (a mighty 23 feet!). No adventure was too big or too small. It was a playful and welcomed part of their journey.
Their adventure was more than just miles on the road. It was an exploration of human potential, play, and the boundless spirit of adventure.
